The Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for the implementations and onsite configurations of the company's analytics software. The Engineer will have a solid support background with good skills supporting, troubleshooting and configuring Windows and SQL Servers. The role requires weekend working on a rota basis (1/4) and our Client offers flexibility on home working.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Role & Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert technical support to clients using the company’s analytics software.
Install and configure software onsite for clients.
Act as the first point of contact for client queries and technical issues.
Escalate complex technical issues appropriately.
For existing customers, identify potential issues and proactively support their software.
Configure and upgrade Windows Servers and SLQ Servers for optimal performance.
Organise software testing prior to implementation.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure all resources are available for installation work.
Apply a flexible approach to work with regards to installation and support work on client sites.
Carry out all relevant technical documentation.
Train to become an expert with the company’s analytics software.
Strive to improve technical knowledge and keep up to date with technology trends.
Provide an excellent customer service to clients at all times and act as a professional company representative.
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience within a similar support engineer role is required.
2+ years’ client facing background within a technology company providing technical support.
Proven experience in using XML files (JSON) and configuring applications using these.
Technical certifications in support, installation or administration would be beneficial.
Demonstrable ability to write SQL queries.
Strong troubleshooting, configuration and problem-solving skills on Windows Server as well as knowledge of common tools and installation of OS.
Proven ability to run traces using Wireshark and experience of SSH connections.
Administration skills of SQL Server.
Scripting experience in Batch or PowerShell would be highly advantageous.
Knowledge of MS IIS, MongoDB and VMWare skills would be beneficial.
Experience with and knowledge of Linux server.
Solid knowledge of networking protocols and experience of troubleshooting connectivity issues.
Good understanding of PC infrastructures.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to undertake weekend working on a rota basis (1/4) with flexibility to work from home.
