Overview

Our client, a successful Customer Analytics Software company, are searching for a Database Administrator to join their team. This role is based in Nottingham but covers the whole of the UK. The Database Administrator will be responsible for the configuration, installation and maintenance of highly available clustered SQL Servers located across multiple time zones. The successful candidate will need to have a solid background in SQL Server and database systems with a minimum of 4 year' experience in the industry as a DBA.

  • Maintain highly available clustered SQL Servers and Availability groups, including configuring and installing, located in different data centres across multiple time zones.
  • Provide daily support operations, including monitoring, alerting, periodic maintenance, troubleshooting, provisioning, capacity management, patching, hardware and software configuration, upgrades and performance monitoring in line with best practices.
  • In order to meet mission goals and ensure availability, reliability and scalability of SQL Server and Windows Server, coordinate with network engineering, business application and database administration functions.
  • Maintain all required documentation on systems and processes.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise and research to determine the cause.

 

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Database Administrator in the industry.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, or similar is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience is required using Microsoft SQL Server advanced administration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience working in Clustered Windows infrastructure environment is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of highly available design.
  • In-depth knowledge of database security.
  • Advantageous knowledge/experience with other data platforms such as MongoDB, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience with SAN configuration is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle is helpful.
  • Solid technical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong customer care and interpersonal skills.
