An exciting career opportunity to join our Client as an entry level Software Developer, based in their Southern Scotland offices. The Junior Software Developer will be responsible for contributing to the overall design of bespoke software and applications. As well as demonstrating a creative approach to problem solving, the Junior Software Developer will provide continuous support to customers from product delivery to training and the introduction of concise user guides. The successful candidate must be ambitious with a real passion for software development. Good knowledge of C#, Java, JavaScript is necessary, as well as some proven experience in designing software and applications. Work experience within the technology sector would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Develop high end software and applications.
  • Use prominent programming languages such as C# and Java.
  • Take part in the entire software development cycle from concept stage.
  • Provide customers with guidance and appropriate test environment.
  • Complete key testing to ensure criteria and requirements are met.
  • Create and deliver standard internal and external training as part of the product handover.
  • Fully utilize the company’s internal CRM systems.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with all departments of the business.
  • Keep management team up to date on development and project progress.
  • Ensure that work is carried out within a specified time line.
  • Have an innovative approach to solving problems and reducing workloads.
  • Support colleagues in their progression plans and share knowledge.
  • Take instructions and work towards specifications from senior staff members.
  • Work towards guidelines and best practice set out by the company.
  • Show flexibility around the main duties and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to continuously self-improve and acquire new skills.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.



  • Degree level education or industry specific qualification is essential.
  • Good C#, JavaScript and Java programming knowledge and skills.
  • Previous work experience within a technology company would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with all phases of development from concept to release.
  • Flawless English language skills, both verbal and written.
  • An excellent team player that shares knowledge and experience.
  • Confident and effective problem solver.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Exposure to web containers (Apache Tomcat, IIs or JBoss) would be ideal.
  • Experience of using MS SQL, MySQL or similar would be ideal but not essential.
  • Previous IDE experience would be advantageous (Eclipse, Visual studio).
  • Knowledge of Avaya Orchestration Designer or Voice Objects would be beneficial but not essential.
